LightPoints is a gentle method of supporting the body using simple contact and, where helpful, red light.
Rather than applying light broadly,
LightPoints focuses on specific areas of the body. These points can be approached simply, without the need for complex systems
“The tool matters — but how it is used matters more,” Jan Couper
These areas have long been recognised in different traditions
for their connection to balance and function.
* In some systems, they are known as acupuncture points.
LightPoints is designed for everyday use — at home.
🩶 A SIMPLE APPROACH
What LightPoints Is
LightPoints combines:
- light (often red light)
- gentle pressure to specific points on the body
- simple sequences
to support comfort, movement, and balance
A CONTINUING APPROACH
LightPoints builds on earlier work developed over many years by Jan Couper,
including the Take Part In Your Care series first published in 2004 utilizing the application of 660nm red light and touch.
That work explored simple, practical ways for individuals to take a more active role in their own wellbeing.
LightPoints continues this approach —
refined, simplified, and adapted for everyday use.
🌿 WHY PEOPLE USE IT
Everyday Support
People use LightPoints to support:
- general wellbeing
- ease of movement
- relaxation
- everyday balance
* It is not complex — and does not need to be.
“A smaller, more focused approach is often sufficient,” Jan Couper
🩶 BEGIN WITHOUT EQUIPMENT
Start Simply
LightPoints can begin with:
- gentle touch/massage/using the blunt end of a pencil to stimulate the points
- simple positioning
- short, regular routines
** A red light torch may be used, but is not required.
🌿 A NOTE ON RED LIGHT
More Than the Device
There is growing interest in red light products, including masks and handheld devices.
These can be useful.
However:
** results are not only about the device
They are influenced by:
- how light is applied
- consistency
- the body’s overall condition
* LightPoints takes a broader, more considered approach.
🩶 A BROADER VIEW OF THE BODY
The body does not respond to one element alone.
Response can be influenced by:
- daily routines
- rest
- hydration
- overall balance
* Small, consistent factors often matter most.
🌿 A NOTE ON DIET AND BALANCE
In many traditions, foods are understood to have different effects on the body.
Some are considered more stimulating or warming, while others are more cooling and settling.
At times, when the body is already under stress or imbalance,
these differences may become more noticeable.
*A simple, balanced approach to food can often be helpful
* The body often responds best when we consider the whole, not just one part.
🩶 IS IT SAFE?
A Gentle Approach
LightPoints is designed to be:
- simple
- non-invasive
- easy to use
** It does not replace medical advice or care
🌿 HOW TO BEGIN
A Simple Start
Begin with:
- one or two points

- a few minutes each day
👉 consistency matters more than intensity
🩶 A DAILY APPROACH
Building a Routine
